(Natchez, MS) BREAKING NEWS!!!
We are pleased to announce that Natchez just won the Top Law Enforcement Award at the Mississippi Municipal League Annual Conference!!!
Out of 299 municipalities, Natchez was honored for the outstanding work of our newly created VIPER Unit, Violent Immediate Police Emergency Response, in getting illegal weapons off the street and reducing crime rates – well over 150 illegal guns seized in just six months! To our knowledge, this is the first time Natchez has ever received this award.
Our Natchez Renewal is resulting in a safer community. Crime rates are going down, arrests are being made, and crimes are being solved. Crime Stoppers is back and working, and morale and our officer-count are up. In addition, our officers have new cars, guns, equipment, uniforms, and all of the things needed to keep our city safe.
I am very grateful to our Police Chief Joseph M. Daughtry, Sr. and his team of outstanding men and women. The recognitions speak volumes:
– Natchez, Crimestoppers Top Law Enforcement Agency Award, 2021
– Chief Daughtry, Crimestoppers Lifetime Achievement Award. 2021
– Chief Daughtry, President, MS Chiefs Association, 2022
– Natchez, Top Law Enforcement Award, Public Safety, City over 10,000, MS Municipal League, 2022
Natchez – Working together, we are making progress and we are definitely headed in the right direction!! God is good!
Mayor Dan M. Gibson
