LSU Ag Center Entomologist Aaron Ashbrook says the consistent rainfall this summer has led to a bigger Love Bug population. Love Bugs can damage the paint on your vehicle if you drive through a large swarm, but they are an important part of the food chain.
Ashbrook says love bugs will mate for 12 hours and the female can lay an egg mass that has 100 to 350 larvae.
