The Natchez-Adams County public pool will open Memorial Day weekend starting May 25 for the summer swimming season.
The public pool hours will be Tuesdays through Sundays 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., according to a report presented to Natchez aldermen Tuesday.
While city aldermen and Adams County supervisors have agreed on the swimming pool’s opening, they still need to resolve how to manage the jointly owned and funded Liberty Park facility. They’ve been discussing having a joint session of the city and county boards the past several weeks, but no such meeting has taken place.
The Natchez-Adams County aquatic center has been plagued by management instability since it opened in 2018.
The Natchez and Adams County boards have also discussed the need to meet for hammering out long-term agreements to continue their joint E911 emergency-dispatching operations and the fire-fighting arrangement that has the Natchez Fire Department responding to fires outside the city. Those two issues remain unsettled.
