A Ferriday man was detained Tuesday afternoon after allegedly reporting that he had shot multiple Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services employees and planned to shoot additional employees in other parishes, according to the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said it received a call around 1:30 p.m. regarding a person who had contacted DCFS and made the claims. DCFS temporarily locked down its staff as a safety precaution.
Deputies immediately began working to identify and locate the person, according to the sheriff’s office.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., deputies located and detained Reginald McCoy of Ferriday.
The sheriff’s office said the case remains under active investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
No information about any actual shootings or injuries was provided by the sheriff’s office.
McCoy is presumed innocent unless, and until proven guilty.
