A Natchez man is under arrest after police said officers found cocaine and a loaded handgun during a traffic stop early yesterday.
Natchez police say FLEX officers stopped a vehicle driven by Timothy Hooker on Covington Road for a traffic violation. During the stop, officers reported finding a loaded handgun, 260 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, and about 18 grams of crack cocaine. Hooker was taken into custody without incident and charged with possession of cocaine hydrochloride with intent to traffic and possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell or distribute. Police also reported seizing $2,096.
Police said both charges include sentence enhancements because the alleged offenses occurred within 1,500 feet of a school or a church, and because Hooker allegedly had the loaded gun with him.
