NATCHEZ, Miss. — Four people were arrested Wednesday after an Adams County Sheriff’s Office investigation into complaints of suspected drug activity at a Natchez residence.
According to the sheriff’s office, agents with its Special Operations Group responded Oct. 7 to multiple citizen complaints concerning suspected illegal drug activity at a residence at 311 South Shields Lane.
Agents made contact with individuals at the residence and obtained signed consent to search the property, the sheriff’s office said.
During the search, agents reported finding approximately 7.1 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded syringe containing heroin and several plastic pipes that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
The investigation resulted in the arrests of four Natchez residents.
Dustin McKlemurry, 55; Corey Latham, 34; and Christina Posey, 37, were each charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin and possession of methamphetamine.
Sandra Latham, 58, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
All four were taken into custody and transported to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Jail for processing.
Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said the investigation demonstrates the importance of residents reporting suspected illegal activity in their neighborhoods.
“Your complaints are not falling on deaf ears,” Patten said. “When you call us about drug activity in your neighborhood, we take those complaints seriously.”
Patten said the sheriff’s office’s Narcotics Team, Special Operations Group and Patrol Division remain committed to investigating complaints from residents. While not every complaint will result in an immediate arrest, he said reports from the public can provide investigators with important information.
“Our mission is not simply to make arrests,” Patten said. “Our mission is to restore peace, protect families, and make every neighborhood in Adams County a safer place to call home.”
The sheriff’s office encouraged residents to continue reporting suspected criminal activity, saying tips from the public can assist investigators in addressing neighborhood concerns.
All persons arrested or charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
